Project maintenance and repair - from selection to monitoring

Thursday, 14 June, 2018 to Friday, 15 June, 2018
Rome, Italy

The focus on the result–oriented approach requires Interreg programmes to get the best from the calls for proposals in order to attract and fund those projects which better answer to efficiency, quality and value for money requirements. It goes without saying that selecting those project applications which better meet these requirements and which better respond to the needs and objectives of the programmes pave the way for a smooth and successful implementation of the projects and, accordingly of the programmes: an ounce in prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The underlying rationale for the workshop on project maintenance and repair is as follows:
• A quality project is less demanding in terms of maintenance and repair – more investment front-of-pipe pays off;
• Monitoring and maintenance has to be done efficiently;
• See to minimise time consuming repair through preventive mechanisms – end-of-pipe repair is usually the least efficient approach.

Also MC decisions are subject to close scrutiny, in particular rejections: complaints management is a new requirement in this period and might run into a time-consuming venture. Prevention, i.e. adequate justifications for rejection might solve part of the problem but still: one cannot prevent complaints and an exchange of experiences on that is considered useful.
The objective of this event is exchange on different practices and procedures and to discuss innovative ways in:
• assessing value for money,
• complaints management,
• reporting, monitoring and change management,
• crisis management, approaches and levers to manage crisis projects
as well as the advantages and disadvantages the different solutions offer.

The event is dedicated to experienced Interreg programmes’ staff from the Joint Secretariats, Managing Authorities and other programme bodies involved in assessment and selection of projects and staff members supporting projects at their implementation stage, during reporting, reviewing project reports and generally in charge of monitoring projects’ performance.
