Project monitoring and reporting: so far, so good!?

Thursday, 27 June, 2019 to Friday, 28 June, 2019
Vilnius, Lithuania

Outline

The most demanding routine throughout project implementation is reporting. It is the essential control mechanism but also the regular communication between project and programme. It can be considered either a compliance exercise or an important exchange. In our view monitoring and reporting should go beyond mere fulfilment of the programme’s monitoring and control requirements towards an active exchange and if required mentoring and support to projects encountering difficulties or posing a risk.

But still monitoring and reporting procedures should be efficient for both sides - meaning beneficiaries and programme management.

How do programmes support projects during monitoring and reporting and, in case, help them improve the quality of reporting? Have programmes foreseen any specific monitoring and preventive measures for risky projects? And when it comes to simplification, did the efforts promised in the programmes lead to more effective and at the same time efficient practices of monitoring and reporting, by avoiding cumbersome administrative and technical requirements or gold plating?

Who is it for

We especially invite experienced Interreg programmes’ staff from Joint Secretariats, Managing Authorities and other programme bodies whose main task is to support projects at the implementation stage. Namely, those who receive, check, assess and review project reports and provide guidance and support to beneficiaries throughout the implementation stage.

To keep the workshop effective, we have to limit the participation per programme to a maximum of two persons.

Format of the workshop

We foresee the workshop being based on contributions from all participants. Thus, we expect you to participate actively in discussions and bring your programme practice(s) to share. We will facilitate the workshop and lead the discussion to reflections which can be shared also with other interested Interreg programmes.
