Interreg and migration challenges 2020+

Friday, 10 July, 2020
Online 10:00 – 12:30 CET

Building on the outcomes of our last conferences in Athens (2018) and Valencia (2019), and following the increasing interest of Interreg programmes, Interact is organising an online networking event to investigate more on what is the specific role of Interreg in addressing issues and challenges related to migration.

We will have a look at the current state of play of the projects tackling migration-related issues in the current programming period and together with programmes and projects’ representatives, we will exchange on:

  • What were the main difficulties tackling and implementing a project addressing migration issues and/or integration of the migrants?
  • What are the main results achieved and lessons learnt for implementing these kind of actions?

Together with DG Regio (D.1 unit) colleagues, we will dig deeper into the role that Interreg programmes could play, activities that could be supported and financed and how they can liaise and create synergies with other funds and initiatives.

Through an exchanging on future policy trends and opportunities for Interreg programmes and projects to tackle migration issues, with a view to the priorities for 2021-2027 Cohesion policy, we will ask what could be possible prospects of future generation projects tackling migration related-challenges?
