Investments &... Climate resilience

Monday, 12 September, 2022
Online 10:00 - 12:15 CET

Provisions of Article 22.4 (j) of the Interreg regulation require to perform an assessment of expected impact of climate change for investments in infrastructure with an expected lifespan of at least five years. This requirement differs in comparison to the similar article in the CPR for mainstream programmes.

The formulation has raised questions and concerns of many programmes that planned to support infrastructure within projects. Recently clarification has been provided: the provision addresses only the climate adaptation (resilience) of infrastructure Investments[1].

Assessing climate resilience is a considerable new requirement to programmes! As next step we want to brainstorm with all interested programmes to search for a pragmatic approach to avoid disproportionate additional requirements for project applicants. As an inspiration for the discussion we will look for prioneer programmes willing to share their reflections and plans, but to achieve the objective we need all your thoughts and experiences.

With this event we want to initiate a series of events dedicated to various topics related to investments. To make it work we will need your involvement. In the second part of the meeting, we plan to create the work plan of the group interested in various investments for the second half of 2022 and for the first year of Interact IV.  Some of you already shared with us ideas in the Investments community and the relevant spreadsheet. Thank you for that, now it is time to take it one step further.

Who is it for?

The target group of the workshop is MA/JS staff of Interreg programmes that plan to finance investments, in particular investments in infrastructure.

Format

This is an interactive workshop. Hence, we expect an active contribution from all the participants during the whole workshop.

[1] It has been confirmed that the assessment requirements address only the climate adaptation (resilience) of infrastructure Investments.
