An introduction to using Plain Language

- Does reading complicated language sometimes confuse you?
- Wouldn't it be nice to get a bigger return for the time you invest in writing, by presenting your message to your readers in a more direct way?
- Do you always write clearly and plainly for your readers?
This training will introduce you to the differences between heavy and plain writing styles, and provide you with tools and takeaways you can use to make your writing clearer and more reader-friendly.
You will have the chance to take part in activities that put the guidelines into practice. In addition, each of you will be offered a Plain Language edit of one text you write, after you have completed the training.
Read the agenda below, then think about whether this is a training you feel you could benefit from.
Please note that we have set a limit of 16 places on this training, for practical reasons. However, if the training is over-subscribed this time, rest assured we'll be running this training again later in 2022.
Also, we want to highlight that once we have accepted your registration, you are committed to sending us 2 examples of texts you have written. These will be used as the basis for some work during the training, but please know that no writer's name will be revealed. The absoulte deadline for sending your 2 texts is 19 April 2022, but sending them before that date would be greatly appreciated by your trainer!
Update 19 April: Registration is now closed, and the training is fully-subscribed.
Finally, if you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the Interact staff member whose name appears at the bottom of this page.
